I was reading an article in Wired Magazine about the Chevy Tahoe CGM program. It was pretty well-written overall, except for a paragraph or two the writer (Frank Rose) devoted to describing the Detroit area. You could tell this guy made up the whole thing, because he made the mistake of describing his perceptions as he drove from Warren to Detroit. It was really laughable to see him characterize the area he drove through as “a dead zone of boarded upbuildings and overgrown lots”. Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of these around Detroit and basically every other major city in the WORLD. However, anyone who takes that from drive from Warren to Detroit wouldn’t see what he described. But for some reason this writer decided to ‘plus’ it up a little. I wonder what other parts of his article, and what other writings of his are fiction. I guess it’s possible he got lost, or followed some unknown map that routed him through the alleys. What a pain in the back that can be!
