It’s funny how when one of your kids starts to drive how you notice all the really bad drivers out there. Forget about parallel parking, new drivers need to learn how to deal with rude people, cuz they’re everywhere. And crazy people can cause unexpected back pain.
You’d think a simple trip up to the hardware store on a sunny Sunday afternoon wouldn’t be a very big deal. Well it almost was for me and my 15 year old driver in training. He was doing a great job with all his signals, coming to a complete stop at stop signs, etc. However, I guess doing all these things right and also driving at the speed limit isn’t the right way to go in our town . There was a guy following us in a dark gray Chrysler Pacifica who became frustrated for some reason (hmm, let’s see; maybe he is a Michigan State fan and was a little hung over from the great game the team played the day before in Ann Arbor, NOT!). Anyway, he passed us on the right in a 25 mph zone at about 45 mph. Of course we pulled right up behind him 1/4 mile down the road at the next light. I explained to my son that he should focus on where he is driving and not to worry about Looney Locals. We got to the hardware store without incident. But as we were paying for our goods at store check out, a guy came in and said “nice driving” to my son who was standing off to the side. I didn’t pick up this conversation until we were walking out of the store when my son confirmed it for me. And there, sure enough was that ugly (I mean ugly) dark gray Pacifica in the parking lot. As we pulled away he came out of the store. It was obvious to me at that time that he didn’t go in the store to buy anything, but came in to find us, so he could tell us off. Now that scared me. What a creep. He must be a Lions fan too.
Hey, having a bad day? Don’t like the way people drive. Here’s a suggestion; keep it to yourself. And when you see young kids or old people driving, just ignore them. Your back will thank you for it.
